Should we be on Myspace?

Here's a link to an article in today's New York Times.

Read the article, which discusses social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook and their value to teenage learning. Then, respond to the article in your blog. Do you think these sites should be utilized more effectively in school? Are these important things for teens to use and understand in today's high tech world? Or, do you believe they are dangerous and should be avoided?

J - O - B

J-O-B are three very scary letters for many high school students.

The other day in class we looked at what it's like to work for a company like Google. As you saw, it's a very cool place to work. Your goal over the next two days is to research some potential jobs in technology. Obviously, the number of job options in this field is growing extremely fast. There is a good chance that once you graduate high school, you'll have the skills and experience needed to land your first entry level job working with a computer in some capacity. Over the next two days, do some research on the web, and find some jobs in technology that you could see yourself doing after school.

A good place to start is Monster.com, Craigslist.com or Careerbuilder.com. Your looking for jobs in technology (like Web Designer, Graphic Designer, IT support, Internet Marketing, Creative Engineer, Search Advertising, ect). You will blog about at least 10 potential jobs and provide information like the company name, location, qualifications, and starting salary. Extra credit for jobs opportunities found at Google, Microsoft, Apple, or Yahoo.

See whats out there, and have fun! There are truly a ton of great opportunities out there for people with the skills you are building everyday in this class.
